Fernando Nardi

Fernando Nardi, Hydraulic engineer, PhD and Associate Professor of hydrology with passion-driven skills for applied research and scientific consultancy to address water and environmental challenges. He is the director of the Water Resources Research and Documentation Center (WARREDOC) at University for Foreigners of Perugia (Italy). Other appointments include: chair of the Citizens and Hydrology (CANDHY) working group by the International Association of Hydrological Sciences (IAHS) and courtesy affiliate professor at the Institute of Environment of Florida International University (FIU) and Sustainable Communities theme coordinator of the FIU UNESCO Chair on Sustainable Water Security.

Academic with entrepreneurial spirit specializing in geospatial, hydrologic and hydraulic modelling of water systems for understanding and managing natural resources/hazards and hydro-climatic extremes. Dr. Nardi's most recent scientific and professional projects aim to develop trans-disciplinary research and solutions for understanding, simulating and mapping human-water interactions in a wide range of multi-sector projects (e.g. WEFE Nexus, humans and floods, water cybersecurity, socio-hydrology, food security, green energy, smart mobility) that all share his  passion for technology (remote sensing, GIS, open/big data, citizen science, crowdsourcing, gamification) and the common goal of building a safer, fairer, greener and more sustainable world.

Fernando Nardi is the coordinator of the NEXUS-NESS project a 3 MLN euro 3 years project funded by the EU Horizon 2020 PRIMA (Partnership for Research and Innovation in the Mediterranean Area) on the WEFE Nexus starting June 2021.
